On November 10, 2019, Heaven opened up to receive Barbara Clark, wife of Richard Clark, married 67 years, to live forever with their Heavenly father. Barbara Jean Whisenant Clark, age 84, was a former member of Cloud Springs Baptist Church and was a member of Anchor of Hope Baptist Church. Barbara dearly loved her church. She was a four time cancer survivor to which she gave God the glory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Aaron Whisenant; Grandparents, Gene and Rachel Callahan, Virgil and Julia Whisenant; uncles, her mother’s brother, Barney, Darl, and Herman Callahan, parents-in-law, Pluma and Cecil Clark; and son-in-law, Wendell R. Whitley.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Clark; daughter, Jeanette Whitley; grandson, Clayton Whitley, who was the light of her life; step-grandchildren, Aaron (Katie) Whitley and Melissa Wilson; step-great grandchildren, Haley Kersker, AJ and Maddie Whitley, Aubrey and Parker Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.
Special to her was her Sister and Brother-in-law, Brenda and Les Isbell, Harrison, TN.
Special thanks to Hearth Hospice for their care, especially Brandi Hicks, who was with her on this journey and took time to get to know Barbara.
Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Brian Haney officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 2-8 PM Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
