B. Gary Harris

Gary Harris, 77, of Ringgold, went home to be with the Lord Monday, November 9, 2020. Gary was a member of Spring Creek Church of God, and served in multiple capacities with the Church of God in Tennessee, Virginia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, West Virginia, Georgia, Alaska, and Washington State. He was a native Chattanoogan who attended University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and graduated from Lee College in Cleveland, Tennessee. Gary also held a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary. He was a retired clergyman and was active in ministry for more than 43 years. He and his wife Dorlene have lived in Ringgold for six years. Gary enjoyed gardening and spending time with his three children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Gary was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was known for his love for God, people, and music. His radiant smile and warm personality brought comfort to many.
 
He was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, Harrison and Stella Goins, parents Cecil Leroy Harris and Allie Lee Smith, and brothers Peter Vaughn Smith and Ron Harris.
 
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Dorlene Harris, sons Kevin (Cindy) Harris of Hollywood, FL, Phillip (Ivelisse) Harris of Kingsport, TN, daughter Amy (Tony) Robinson of Richmond, VA, stepmom Janice Harris of Rossville, GA, brothers Don Harris of Ringgold, GA, Ricky Harris of Jasper, GA and Bobby Smith of Roseburg, OR, sisters Sharon Rae Stark of Chattanooga, TN, Alice Faye Goins of Rossville, GA, Sheila White of Ringgold, GA, Debbie Pugh of McDonough, GA, and Sharon Marie Whalen of Tuscumbia, AL, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
 
Entombment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
 
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, funeral services will be private. Please visit www.heritagebattlefield.com to attend the funeral service virtually at 1:00 PM Friday, November 13, 2020, as well as share words of comfort with the family.
