Ann Marie Chambers Dendy joined her husband of 64 years in heaven yesterday. She was surrounded by family and friends.
Born December 23, 1936 in Rossville, GA, she was a graduate of Rossville High School. She then became a resident of the YWCA in downtown Chattanooga along with her life-long friends Charlotte Andes Deals and Jean Chambers Edwards. Ann began her working career at Dupont where she met her husband and soul mate Bennie Dendy who predeceased her by one week.
While serving as a Mother and housewife Ann pursued professional interests by representing World Book Encyclopedia and Tupperware. She then worked as a legal secretary for five years before beginning her dream career of 40 plus years as a real estate professional. Ann worked with a variety of real estate offices and then started and managed her own firm for multiple years.
Ann was predeceased by her husband Bennie and her son Jeffrey Mark Dendy of Chattanooga. She was also predeceased by her Mother, Mable Margaret Chambers and her Father William Edward Chambers, sister Aileene Chambers Palmer, and brothers Hobert Edward Chambers, and Robert Eugene Chambers.
Surviving family includes her son Michael Dendy of Johns Creek, Georgia and Indian Rocks, Florida and daughter Lisa Dendy Ray (Kim) of Ringgold Georgia and her Sister Carol Chambers Weaver of Tampa, Florida. In addition survivors include her beloved grandchildren Matthew, Emily, and Adam Ray and Callie and Carson Dendy.
Ann is a former member and State President of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority where she did charitable work for many organizations including her favorite St. Jude Children’s Hospital. She and her husband were members of the Battlefield Golf Club where she was a founder of the Mickey Mantle Invitational Charity Golf Tournament.
She was a loyal Christian and a member of Parkway Baptist Church where she loved both Sunday School and Church services. Ann loved the Georgia Bulldogs and attending her children and grandchildren’s athletic events.
A private ceremony will occur at Lakewood Memory Gardens where Ann will be buried next to her husband and son.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to The Jordan Thomas Foundation or St Jude Children’s Hospital.
