Mabel N. Delaney, Chattanooga,  85, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, November 4, 2017, while surrounded by loving family.  She was born on April 12, 1932 in Waynesboro, TN;  the oldest child of Jesse and Elizabeth Morrison Duren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 60 years, Dr. William H. Delaney.

     Mabel spent her life in service to her Lord and to her family.  She and her husband served in churches across the state as well as on the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board.  As a registered nurse, she used her calling to witness and minister to others.  As a pastor’s wife, Mabel served faithfully by her husband’s side for over 50 years.  As a mother, grandmother, sister aunt, and friend, she loved well and was greatly loved.

     Mabel fulfilled the goal of a Christian by allowing others to see the  love of Jesus through her life.

     She is survived by her four children:  Tim (Sharon) Delaney, Myrtle Beach, SC;  Mark (Robin) Delaney, Sweetwater, TN,  Mary (Rickman) Roberts, Winchester, TN and Thomas Delaney, Chattanooga;  three grandchildren:  Claire Delaney, Ericka Roberts, and Jake Roberts.  Also survived by her siblings:  Gary (Andrea) Duren, Danville, VA;  Tommy (Mollie) Duren, Danville, VA;  Betty Lou (Garland) Moore, Pulaski, TN and Ora Belle (Carl) Campbell, Cleveland, TN.  She also leaves treasured memories for many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

     Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM Sunday at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with  Rev. Rickman Roberts  officiating.   Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday at Shields Cemetery, Waynesboro, TN.

     The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM Sunday at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
