Effie Finley Bridges, 78 of Ringgold passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at a local nursing facility after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born on February 9, 1939 in Dunlap, TN to Carson Edward (Jack) Finley and Lillian Lucile Teeters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wayne Bridges; her parents, Jack and Lucile Finley; and her sister, Sally Nance.
Effie grew up in Dunlap, TN. She graduated from Sequatchie County High School in Dunlap in 1957. After high school, she worked for Interstate Insurance Company and then Provident Insurance Company as a Claims Specialist where she retired in 1998.
Effie married Charles Wayne Bridges of Ringgold, GA on February 11, 1961 in Dunlap, TN. They were happily married for 43 years. Effie was a member of Boynton Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class where she held many positions through the years. She was also a member of the Joy Makers where she served as treasurer. She could cook a mean pot of Chicken and Dumplings on short notice and her Chicken and Dressing was legendary. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cooking for a crowd and rooting for her Georgia Bulldogs (Go Dawgs!) She was a wonderful and loving Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Sister, Aunt and Friend and will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved her.
Effie is survived by her children, Keevin (Angie) Bridges of Ringgold; Cindy (Mike) Ramsey of Bristow, VA and Carole Bridges of Ringgold; grandchildren, Justin Bridges and Emily (Jamie) Collins, all of Ringgold and Meagan Ramsey (Christian Holder) of Manassas, VA; great-grandchildren; Dylan and Vivie Collins of Ringgold; brother Bill (Sammye) Finley of Dunlap, TN; her identical twin sister, Ethel (Cliff) Smith of Chickamauga; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home chapel with Dr. Keith McLeod officiating. Interment will follow in Anderson Memorial Gardens.
