Charles ChapmanJuly 24, 1929 ~ May 15, 2017 (age 87)
Charles Edward Chapman, 87 of Fort Oglethorpe went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday May 15, 2017 surrounded with his loving wife and son Brent by his side. He has lived in Fort Oglethorpe for 51 years and was a member of Fairview Primitive Baptist Church where he was a Deacon for 57 years and had served as Superintendent, Treasurer, Song leader and Bible study teacher. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and retired from DuPont after more than 35 years of service.
Charles will be sorely missed by his loving wife of 66 years and his two sons. Charles and his son Brent were best friends and enjoyed church, trout fishing, camping, and watching Alabama football together.
Survivors include loving wife, Jane Chapman; sons, Mickey Chapman, Lookout Mountain and Brent Chapman, Fort Oglethorpe; sister, Willadean Hicks, Huntsville; granddaughter, Tara Cruise, Summerville, and 4 Great Grand-Children.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, John Chapman, mother, Ellie Chapman, brother, Leon Chapman, sisters, Vernon Boydston, Jewel York.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Elder Greg Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Fuller Cemetery, Ider, AL.
