Ben Bowen Sr., 85, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday December 26, 2017. He was of the Protestant Christian faith, and worked for the Postal Service for 34 years. Ben was a selfless person, and enjoyed helping others and serving his community. Ben was an Army veteran, a member of the Fort Oglethorpe Planning Committee, and was often seen helping neighbors. He enjoyed the outdoors, and working with his hands to build one of a kind creations.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, and son-in-law Gregory Stoker.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Martha Bowen, sons B. Alex (Stella) Bowen, Jr. and Paul D. (Janice) Bowen, daughter Christa Stoker, Grandchildren Nicholas and Lydia Bowen, Brother D.E. Bowen, Jr. and several nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Boehm Birth Defects Center, the American Cancer Society, and the American Diabetes Association.

The family will receive friends 4-8 PM Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
